I have always had a keen interest in nature, spending many hours assidiously observing fauna, recording my observations with sketches, notes and photographs. these eventually become the inspirational catalyst for my paintings. Careful study, thoughtful composition and evocative light are the key elements in my work. When producing my oil paintings in the studio, I prefer to use tradditional techniques, working up a detailed preliminary under-painting with a mixture of transparent and opaque glazes, gradually building, after many hours, to a finished piece of work.

My work has won several awards, most recently as Wildscape Magazine's "Wildlife Artist of Year 2009" and winner of the "Animals in their Environment", a category in the BBC Wildlife Magazine Artist of the Year 2009 competition.
